Ford Scrappage Scheme – Your questions answered…

Tags: , , , , ,

If you caught the news yesterday, you will most likely know that Ford have released a new scrappage scheme aimed at improving air quality by removing older, typically more polluting cars and vans from the road.
But the scrappage scheme isn’t simply for older diesel and includes petrol vehicles registered up to and including 31st December 2009 as well.

Why are Ford doing this?

The primary focus is to improve air quality, although Ford have monitored emissions for many years; more powerful, smaller capacity petrol and cleaner diesel engines have resulted in massive improvements to engine emissions even in the last eight years – scrappage includes all makes of cars and vans (some considerably more polluting than others) UP TO the end of 2009… That obviously covers a lot of more polluting petrol and diesel vehicles. In fact, it could help reduce up to 15 million tons of CO2 annually.

So It’s not just for diesels then?
No, it’s petrol or diesel (or hybrid).

Is it just Ford cars that I can scrap?
Nope, ANY car or commercial.

Do the vehicles actually get scrapped?
Yes. They MUST be scrapped by us, the dealer.

So I get £2,000 off a new Ford?
Well, yes… but in some cases its more. In fact with the current customer savings it’s up to £4,950 combined saving on some models.

Is it the Government or Ford that pay the Scrappage money?
Well, actually it’s a mixture of Ford and us, the dealer. We both contribute towards the scrappage allowance.

What vehicles does this apply to and how much do I save?
We’re glad you asked. Savings are exclusively available on the following car models and series/trim levels.

What are the basic terms and conditions?
